Press Release: May 27, 2020

(Louisville, Ky.) – DFH Heating and Air Conditioning now covers 100% of health insurance cost for their employees. After years of offering health coverage with a percentage covered by the company, DFH owners Alex Hinkebein and Chris Hinkebein do not want to leave room for employees to not receive adequate health coverage.

Since 1935, DFH has been meeting the heating and cooling needs of the Louisville metro area. Like many businesses over the past three months, DFH has had to learn to adapt to the changing risks and challenges the Coronavirus dealt.

“It’s always been risky for our guys to enter other people’s homes. But the hazard associated with Covid-19… that made this decision a no brainer,” added owner, Alex Hinkebein. DFH wants to protect the most important asset of their business — their people. DFH has always provided the option of health care coverage with a paid percentage to all of its employees, but some employees turn it down so there are no additional reductions to their paycheck. But with the danger associated with Coronavirus, the Hinkebein brothers made the commitment no employee should have to choose between financial security and health care.

DFH has been family owned and operated, with the initial efforts led by Alex and Chris’ father, Don F. Hinkebein. “Not only is the business in the family,” Hinkebein said, “but the staff at DFH become like family and we need to put our family first to get through this.”
